The Ministry of the Altar Servers of Sta. Teresita Parish, together with our parish priest, Fr. Richard and Rev. Benjie, held a recollection at the Montfort Retreat House at San Jose Del Monte City, Bulacan last Saturday, September 20, 2014.
A day before the said recollection (Friday, September 19, 2014), Metro Manila, as well as other provinces in Luzon suffered from a bad weather due to the typhoon. It made Fr. Richard to be in a dilemma on whether to postpone the planned recollection or to push it through despite the bad weather. Hoping for a good weather, waiting for them the following day (Saturday, September 20, 2014), the decision had been tentative. It seems that the odds were against them that night because the jeep that was supposed to be rented for their recollection was stranded due to flooded streets and unfortunately, cannot make it here in Makati. These happenings made the hopes of the children for their recollection low. But then, as always, God has been good to them for it didn’t rain from midnight to dawn of Saturday (September 20) that made the children excited and hopeful for that awaited recollection. Fortunately, with the help of the Knights of the Altar (KOA) Coordinator John Paul, they were able to rent a jeep and borrowed another car (revo) from our barangay for a day. With Fr. Richard on the Revo and Rev. Benjie on the jeep, they lead and prayed the rosary together with the altar servers asking the Lord, with the guidance of Mary, Mother of God, for a good weather throughout the day.
They arrived safe at the retreat house at around 8:00am. They were welcomed by Fr. Melvin and Rev. Arnel (the assigned priest and deacon of the retreat house) and were given a short orientation. Breakfast was served and then the recollection which was facilitated by Fr. Richard and Rev. Benjie, began. Each one was happy and contented with every activity that they participated. The most touching part was the individual sharing of the “Response letter to God the Father”. They were asked to write this letter after viewing the video presentation entitled “The Father’s Love Letter”.
After the mass, they spent a little time for bonding. They explored the surroundings of the retreat house. Some visited the small waterfalls and the spring while others enjoyed playing basketball. Dinner was served before finally leaving the beautiful place which happened to be called Barangay Paradise. They arrived safely in Makati at around 8:00pm. Everyone enjoyed the recollection and they said it was one of their unforgettable experience.
The recollection was a preparation of the altar servers for their forthcoming renewal and installation that will be held at our very own Sta. Teresita Parish during the 6:30pm mass on Sunday, September 28, 2014.
